From Ireland to Austria Series: I'm Leaving On A Jeltplane

This is from a series originally posted on my original blog: Seefahrer Thayer. While I don't recommend it, you can view the original posts here. Because the content had value and useful tips I've decided to repost them here, however, they've since been heavily edited and updated.

Packing last night did not go according to plan.
I paid for a backpack with the Mary Poppins feature, but I hadn't realized until last night that I had gotten stiffed. And no time to return it.

Ryan and I spent hours trying to squeeze everything I'll need for two months into my camping backpack and watching as many episodes of Arrested Development as possible. Luckily he was much more patient than I was. My stress level was at 14.2 on a 10 point scale, but we finally squeezed everything in. He also downloaded Europe maps to my GPS, helped put on my new screen protector, and filled the quota for sarcasm and eye rolling that I was too overwhelmed to assist on.

This morning while I was getting ready I got a call saying my plane was delayed an hour and a half... which put me in coming AFTER my connecting flight. I called and my options were: leave an hour earlier or leave tomorrow. Ryan and I rushed to gather all of my things (and of course make sure I was fed) then got me to the airport for my new time.

It was actually really hard to leave today. As far as the heat goes, y'all can keep it, I won't even look back. But I'll miss everyone dearly this summer.

Auf Wiedersehen!
